I have a amd 2600+ (333mhz) and I have it running in a comp that only supports 266mhz fsb, so the CPU is running at a clock of 1533mhz instead of 2133Mhz.
Does this mean the computer will run slower than if I had of bought a 2400+ that runs with pc2100?

You're talking apples and oranges here. Your processor is only going to run as fast as your motherboard will let it. And your RAM will only operate as fast as your processor will let it (if that is the limiting factor). Do yourself a favor and upgrade your mobo when you upgrade your processor (unless you did, and in that case, maybe you should read a little more before making your purchases).

btw ober I have a 333mobo with a 2100+ on it but I don't want to swap boards with another pc if I dont get much of a speed improvement, hence the reason I am asking the question.

Umm... actually, I do know and I answered your question. Your motherboard is the limiting factor and most likely YES, (if you need me to spell it out) it will most likely run slower than if you had compatible hardware.
And ditch the 2100, if performance is where your aiming your going to need at least pc3200 imo.
My computer is a 1800+ @ 2303MHZ w/ PC3200. Its two months old and im upgrading to a DFI NF7/2500Mobile/PC4200 because its not fast enough.
Before you go trying to "get more", which core issue do you have?
There really isn't a point of getting anything more than PC2700 if you have less than an Athlon XP3200+, because the FSB on those processors is only 333MHz, so you won't gain any performance, in fact you might lose some because the RAM and the processor are operating asynchronously.
