    using my domain

    I bought a domain (wacker7.com) from godaddy, and i already have hosting @ 1and1.com.

    I added the domain at 1and1.com, i just dont know how to "use" it. Like point it to a index site? Help!

    Your host has an IP address for you, somewhere at godaddy, there should be a way to enter that IP against your domain name. That will then update their DNS servers, although it can take a day or two for that to happen.

    I can't be more specific as I don't use godaddy for my domains.

    If you have a permenant link to the net from your PC, and it has a fixed IP address, then you can point your domain to the PC rather then a hosting company. I work that way. What may be a problem is if your ISP does not give you a fixed IP address. If you are assigned a dynamic IP by a DHCP server then you'll probably find something like this of use.

    Nope my ip is fixed so thats not a problem. When i go to specify my nameserver as my ip i have two problems:

    a) it wont accept my ip as a nameserver
    b) it requires two name servers and i only have one ip

    You keep the name servers the same, but you'd have to speak to whoever owns them to get the changes made.
    Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

    So i would have to contact 1and1 hosting and say "hey i dont use your hosting cuz u suk but could u point your nameserver for my account to my computer?"

    doubt that'd work.

    If you are going to host your own site, you don't need a hosting company. It should be your domain register that owns and operates the DNS servers.
