    No sound in Mandrake

    I am using a sound blaster audigy 2 zs
    Amd barton core 3000+

    I keep reading information about about compile the kernal...wtf?

    just install the driver, that is alsa-driver. How to install the driver???? You can read the tutorial from www.alsa-project.org . After installing the driver, run alsaconfig as root. Compiling kernel should be the last step.

    Open up both sound programs and make sure that neither is muted.

    I opened up everything and the sound is not muted. I installed the emu10k1 driver and still no sound.

    emu10k1 is for sb live, not audigy. There's one specifically for audigy.
