uhm... let us see, full support for DX9 and future Direct X(this is ATI in general), while NVidia has neither, they cut corners and went with 96 bit drivers instead of the DX9 req of 128, and therefore got kicked out from future deals with the developers .Originally Posted by RoD
ATI Radeon overclocks MUCH better than the FX series does, and with a watercooling setup, that thing should rock(while you almost need WC just to cool an FX enough).
Better picture quality: one advantage of ATI having a better IQ pipeline in their chips is that the graphics quality is better, and doesn't suffer as large of a performance hit in FSAAA x8 AA x16 as Nvidia does.

9800 Pro and 5950 Ultra are really close in most aspects, 9800 winning some things, 5950 others. BUT for the price NOTHING compares to the 9800 Pro.
Here's the thing. Pixel shaders are variables. They are not limited to one size, they can be 16, 24, or 32 bits in size. ATI can use BOTH 16 and 32 bit pixel shaders.... nVidia only 24. That means that for programs optimized for ATI cards (either 16 or 32 bit pixel shaders) it will blow the nVidia (which essentialy has to emulate it) out of the water. Now, as a programer do you like being restricted to only using one size variable? Which card looks better to program for to you....
Keep in mind this is only ONE of the things that makes the ATI a better deal.

For less than $200 with tax you could get a ATI Radeon 9600 Pro or XT, both of which will walk all over your 5200. If you want to spend a little more the 9800 Pro is about $215. ATI is really the way to go right now, I have a really hard time reccomending any of nVidia's <$200 cards. The 5700 Ultra is around 9600 XT performance, but costs more.
Well you just defied both points of that argument. The Radeon 9800 is better and cheaper.I'm all about saving money and doing better.
