    linux error message

    I am getting the error

via82cxxx warning: SG stopped or paused

It starts at a seemingly random time during my systems running and is logged in /var/log/messages every couple of seconds.

Does anybody know what it means or how to fix it?

I know that via82cxxx is the IDE driver, which is built into the kernel. Try installing a new(er) kernel.
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah
