    sound in linux

How can I play a music disk. I can listen to my mp3's using xmms player but other music players show that they are playing but no sound is comming out e.g. CD Player shows its playing but no sound.

    Thanx in advance!

Make sure sound card is configured with Linux. Make sure volume is up and not on mute. Check cords

the fact that you can play MP3's but not audio CD's suggests that you need to connect your CD-ROM drive to the sound card.

no i had the same problem, open up oss or alsa, whichever you're using, and you have to modify the volume for cd output, i had the same problem with Mandrake.
    PHP and XML

then I guess you already have a cable connecting your CD-ROM drive to the sound card.
