Ok. This is a follow up thread on my last one. I went with the advice and got a crossover line. I needed another ethernet card on my desktop so I got another one. (a Belkin 10/100 Ethernet PCI card) I put it in, and attached my Cat 5e Crossover cord into the slot. Then I attached it into my Sony Vaio and turned it on. Nether came with software, so I don't think I need any drivers. Anyhow. I can't get them to connect. When my PC came on it detected the software with the XP home auto detect thing. Then it said "Local Area Connection 3- A network cable is unplugged) I don't understand. They are both plugged in and turned on. I didn't think I needed anything else. Am I forgetting something? Also now that I have my new NIC card in, my MSN is a little glitchy. Every 10 or 15 seconds, it sort of glitches and is annoying. What could be causing my problems? Thanks for the help. Here are my computer specs..
