    What's it called?

    Hello,

This may sound like a silly question, but does anyone know what that window in the middle of Sound Recorder that "displays" the waveform audio in a given section of a recording is called? It's just that I'm trying to make one and am looking for some tips on how to get it to follow the audio properly.

Yeah, that's what I mean. I thought it was an oscilloscope, but I'd learn more about it commiting suicide than googling for that word...

Although now that I think of it, what I've done isn't quite like that, it's like the display given for audio in a sound editor, like Cool Edit or Sound Forge, you know, there's a line going across the window and different sized vertical lines across it depending on the value of the sample. It should have the same or similar name, though.

I don't even think microsoft knows what it is called, I quote the help pages
    Microsoft

    It's an oscilloscope.
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah
