    www.hotmail.com

It's free, as long as you don't sign up for their extra server space.

Also, yahoo has free POP3. There are tons of them out there, how is it possible that you can't find one?

uhm, you do realize that hotmail and yahoo are POP3, its just that you would have trouble setting it up for outlook.

Both of those can be setup in Outlook Express and Outlook. In fact, Outlook (and probably Outlook Express) have Hotmail included as a server that you can setup as a POP3 or IMAP mailbox.

I have hotmail setup in Outlook right now.

if you mean you want email without going on 'the web', good luck...

if you want free email to use with outlook/outlook express, go with hotmail... that's pretty much what they were designed for...

I'm pretty sure he meant he doesn't want to go to a website to get his email.

I have used hotpop for almost a year now, and I love their service.

Please tell me the pop3 server name for Hotmail so that I can setup my account in Thunderbird...

... don't try too hard, it doesn't exist.

hmm, I didn't know you could use outlook to access yahoo email, I thought you had to pay for that service or somthing. I'm going to look into it, but if you know how post and let me know!

Just checked it out. You have to pay 19.99/year for pop3 forwarding on yahoo. No thanks.

I'm actually not sure what the server name is, because Outlook already had the server information built in. All it needed was my email and password.

    Are you sure about this?

Here are the server names for POP3:

Well for one thing I know you need to go to mail.yahoo.com and make sure
that you are set up to use a pop account. This is what most people miss.
This is how you do it if you have not:

    log into mail.yahoo.com
choose "Options" on the left menu
    Choose POP access & Forwarding
Make sure "Web and POP Access" is selected

After that you just need to make sure the account has the appropriate info:

    pop.mail.yahoo.com
    smtp.mail.yahoo.com

I have seen that error also if your Account Name is entered incorrectly in
Outlook Express. It's not only the password being incorrect that prompts you
with the dialogue box for your password. Hopefully you know your account
name though and got it right. Other than that, Outlook Express accepts
    Yahoo! accounts perfectly.
I would imagine this would work without paying for it unless they have changed their policy.

I was thinking that they started charging for Pop3. Oh, well. I am happier with HotPop than any other mail.

They did start charging. I would change but have had the same email for years so am going to keep it.
