    blinking cd-rw

I have a cd-rw drive that has quit working properly for no reason. All it does is blink it's orange read light and isn't detected by Windows 98se. It was working perfectly until today. Is there any reason for this to happen?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Is it making any kind of noises? What happens when you try to put a cd in? Have you been inside the case recently? Does Win98SE recognize the drive at all? Can you switch it to a different IDE slot and check that? (You could have an IDE controller fried/dead) Have you checked the manual to see if the blinking light means anything? If you don't have the manual, check the manufacturer's webpage for one.

... umm... Give me that much and I'll see if I need more from you.
