    Linmodem problems

I just set up the linmodem driver for my conexant pci modem. I've configured ppp through the dialogs in mandrake. I can query the modem and it returns fine. I can even dial and connect, and the ppp windows says it's connected and shows data transfer....SO WHY CAN'T I SURF (all browsers show domain not found)??

The madrake console says im not connected when i view the network connection page.
    I can't even ping anyone...what's going on?
I just got manrdrake 9.1 running this morning and i've been working on the modem all day. What's wrong?

    edit::

    Like my previous post.
Linmodem is not a hardware modem.
It needs a driver, see www.linuxant.com
    slackware 10.0; kernel 2.6.7
gcc 3.4.0; glibc 2.3.2; vim editor
    migrating to freebsd 5.4

    Hey waldo2k2

This is great. No pun intended but finally there is somebody who had the same problem as me... I had exactly the same problem. As well as the same responses (None . . . ) Anyway I fiddled for a while and tried and searched and read , but i obviously didnt read enough or i missed something.
So eventually i went and got a external modem (Problem Solved !!!)

Well i know this sounds like a lame post and i dont really solve your problem, but at least you are getting some sort of reply.

At the moment im trying to get mandrake to fax for me...

Anyways im still learning, so just keep going..

The really cool thing is the compiler that is std in all the linux, i think that is neat.
And To All Those Opposed, WELL !!!

what made me mad is you posted without reading what i wrote. If you had you would have seen clearly that i had installed the linmodem driver and that it worked.

    To GSLR:
yeah i don't like the fact taht linmodem only allows 14.4 kb connections. I'm going to buy a hardware modem this week...that is if I don't decide to buy my new guitar instead
Yeah linux is great, a little bit of a learning curve but definetly worth it, i love the fact that it only took 15 minutes to install as opposed to a little over an hour for windows. I've got mandrake 9.1, the only problem i have left is getting my hp printer driver to work...i think the install instructions are bad.
