Question Hardware independent images with Windows 2003 server??

    Hi!

It is possible to make a hardware independent image from
    Windows 2003 Server?
When Yes give me some information how to make it?
When Not tell me to what extent is it possible to
create a hardware independent image of a Windows 2003 server?

should I use 3rd party software for this...e.g. from PowerQuest?

    regards,

GetDC to get the device context to the screen
GetDIBits to get a Device Independant Bitmap from the DC.

This bitmap can them be compressed/transferred however you see fit.

    huh?

Are you asking how to program this action or are you asking for an existing piece of software? If you're trying what I think you're trying:

    Terminal Server
    PC Anywhere
    VNC

these are software that allows you to remotely see the "desktop"

    you're waaaaay off dude
he doesn't wanta screenshot, he wants an image file (not bmp) of his windows installation so he can image it to other comptuers. It's a administrative term.

Im not sure if you can do it with windows, every windows install is configured specifically for what hardware is present, I can't even boot an NT based system if certain hardware is removed, im sure server03 isn't any better. You'll have to go 3rd party on this one. Assuming you need it because all your servers are configured differently (btw that's a no no dude )

"Hardware independent image" = Instal an OS (incl. all service packs) on a PC + all stuff that you need (drivers...office......and....and) ... make an Image of this system...
and instal that image on a PC that have another hardware that the PC where the image is made....

it's clear now for you what I mean?

I'll say it again im pretty sure windows can't do it itself, it has to rely on whats inside the box for everything, i don't think it can make copies of files assuming it doesn't have certain hardware. I mean, you can copy those files, but they'll be configured for that box. So, go 3rd party if they say they can do it

I don't say that a 3rd party can do it...

    I ask only.
