    Router troubles

I have 2 computers and an X-box hooked up to a linksys router. My firmware is updated and I use cable. One computer and an x-box have internet connection. But the 2nd computer doesn't have connection, it says it is connected, the task manager and my zonealarm firewall both show activity but it still won't connect to the internet.

I am thinking that my router is rejecting connection, I was thinking that since comcast recently took over the cable here that maybe they only allow 2 connections, but the x-box is plugged in the 3rd spot and isn't on.

The internet was working for that computer until I installed a new windows update this morning.

Go to internet options and reset the LAN settings. Try to ping somewhere, that way you know a signal is getting through. If you take the x-box off, and it works, there might be something in the router/signal, otherwise they have nothing to do with each other. Try connecting the modem directly to the computer. That will tell if its something in the computer, if it does not work, then it might be something with i-explorer. lol, Try netscape. If that dont work. You might want to restore to previous date (depending on which OS).

Something you updated might be affecting the firewall. Disable that crap and see if it works then.
The keyboard is the standard device used to cause computer errors!

also check your router settings. you may have specified 2 available LAN IP's while you need three.

Ok, the whole thing has gone awkward, now neither computers work on the router(I am assuming x-box won't either). I had to hook this up directly to the cable box.

I did get the windows update for this, AFTER this computer no longer worked on the router, I tried to disable and enable the LAN for the computer that didn't work but I think that is what screwed the rest up.

Maybe I have to reinstall everything on the router again, but I can't find the CD for it. Oh well, guess I will start searching.

well, im sure youve tried this already but if not........

is there a little orange light glowing on the front of the router? if so, you need to reset the router.
