    Ethernet Adapter & Network Card

What is the difference between Ethernet Adapter and Network Card ?

All I know is that the one above uses USB and ther other goes
    into the slot.

But is there a basic difference between an Ethernet Adapter
and Network card, in terms of functionality, et al ?

There is no difference. One is a PCMCIA NIC, the other is just an external USB NIC. Ethernet Adapter, Network Card, NIC are all interchangable.

There is a very big difference indeed!!

Primarily it lies in the spelling of the words and what is printed on the products packaging.
