Ok. i got a big prob. On my (dad's) control panel when i click on add/remove programs it says "Parser Message","Value Creation failed " at line 472". i need this fixed or my dad will very angry and i will pay even though i did nothing, anyway, i would be very grateful if u could take a little while to help me out here. THere havent been any virus' on our comp but i have no idea whats wrong. I have xp if it matters. I need ur help, u are my only hope in living, seriously. please help.

control panels have a .cpl extention, if your really screw you could try copying a friends appwiz.cpl from \windows\system32 to your computer. it could be a corrupt file. sometimes when strange thing like that happen to me a scandisk fixes it, xp has a different kind of fat32.
How often would your dad check Add/Remove anyways?
Tell him it's a corrupt uninstall file or something.

When done right xp doesnt have a fat, it has NTFS
If you are a Linux user and you use NTFS for WinXP you done it wrong. Unless you want headaches.
I have linux and WinXP with NTFS :P OF course, they're on seperate hard drives, but it would be fine with two partitions formatted for the different systems, wouldn't it?

Yea, you can partition the same hard drive into different filesystems for different OSes. I have Linux and WinXP coexisting on the same drive right now. Just make sure that Windows has a partition on the primary drive that it can read, or it won't be able to install. I learned this the hard way.

I didn't mean like that. Dual-booting is easy. I meant the Linux drivers for NTFS suck at the moment.
In fact, I'm quad-booting on one HDD. I got two Linux kernels, one windows installation, and one just for FreeDOS.
The best bootloader I know is BootMagic, it comes with Partition Magic. It is very simple to install and configure

I like GRUB.
I had RedHat, WinXP, and Win 2003 all on the same drive. There should never be an instance where an OS needs it's very own physical HD(However, some will not install if they detect another, so those types may need to be installed 'first'). NTFS and Fat32 support for Redhat worked great for me. No problems at all. For a bootloader I used GRUB, which worked great until I accidentally changed the primary partition

lilo, the only way to boot.
grub seems like to big of a "package" and has funky options. it seems like it would be good for recovery, a live cd with that on it to help you boot or just to access it would be great. any one know of one? knopix seems kinda of huge(what, 1.5GBs?).
I belive BootMagic has a special version that runs from a 3½" disk
