    emulating c128 disk drive

I don't know if this is a good place to ask this question , but I'll try. I would like to know if it's possible to connect a 5 1/4 commodore disk drive to a PC through parellel or serial or some other connector and use it with the VICE emulator on a PC?

    Thank you.

yeah, it is. you need a special cable for it. there is diagrams online to show you have to make them, but coming up with the drive connecter isnt easy. your probally have to buy one.

i tried this once for a old c64, its kind of slow(then, like 2 years ago) and the software is a little weird, but it works.

Thank you. After searching google I found alots of info on this. It says its called a XM1541 cable. A few years ago I found nothing on this.

You said you tried it using a c64. What were able to do with it? Could you run programs that you normally ran on the c64 on your pc? One of the software to accomplish this is called Star Commander. Did you use this program?

i did this like 2 years ago....thats a while ago.

i do remember playing with commander. it took me a while to configure everything, but eventually i was able to download a disk image and "burn" it to a commodore disk and run it on my c64. i never tried the emulation, but must of then work well in general. you just have to create a image of the disk and save it in a certian format. some of the emulators a realistic. but with some programs need some speed emulation, that were my probelms started. you have to comfigure a program to slow down to a commores speed. its probally easier now, i was probally using beta drivers with no documentation.
