Question Setting up Pine(Or Linux Mail) for Hotmail?

I just started using Linux. How do I setup Pine(or Linux Mail) to send and recieve messages using my hotmail account? I don't know if hotmail supports smtp, pop3 etc. Anybody know what to do?

hotmail I think supports some access, try mail.hotmail.com. Hmm and you're using KDE? if yes, use Kmail, it will be more confortable to you.

Im not sure if Hotmail uses pop3. I know yahoo does not unless you pay for it. If you are trying to get your email though pop3 and pine. Im pretty sure that you can just tell pine to use pop3 and the hotmail servers (it will just ask for your username and password). If you just want to get the email then you can use fetchmail to get it from the pop3 server. To filter out all the spam I would recomend that you use porcmail. HTH

Ok, I tried something different. I got a softhome.net account. It doesn't have instructions for Pine. BTW, I am using KDE, though I want to make as much as I can accessible by the console(terminal) as possible. How do I set it up?

Edit: If you don't know, softhome supports smtp and pop3.

Ok well SMTP is good for sending mail.. pop3 you can use for getting mail. (un)fortunitaly I dont use pine (its a mess in the code!!) I use mutt. But I think that pine can do native pop3. You will just have to look at the configurations for it.

I know for a fact that mutt does do pop3 and IMAP natively. I've never really liked pine. Too much of a mess IMHO.
