    Windoze Explorer

Why is it that with my new computer, before I installed anything, had windows explorer crash on me several times? Isn't it just the gui that windows uses? If so, why would it crash?
The only good thing about freezing beyond feeling in the final Nordic ski race was that I couldn't feel that tumble I did going about 30 mph, maybe more.
On the other hand, not feeling any part of my body for 30 minutes was scary, especialy for my manhood.

    Goto run and execute explorer.

Yeah, basically it's what allows you to search your hard drive. You can choose other programs to let you do this however. Anyhow, which edition of Windows is it, and how much RAM are you running?(and more importantly, how much of that is free?)

And why is it that nobody I know had this problem with XP.

    Is everything compatible/compliant-cards, drives etc?

And yes, I hope you have plently of free RAM.
    Such is life.

People shouldn't be so ready to think of it as an OS issue. If it is happening right after a fresh install it is likely to be a hardware issue. You should make sure that your RAM speeds are identical. If your computer is crashing often then try lowering your Motherboards Bus Frequency as it could be too fast for some devices connected. Otherwise keep troubleshooting with other Hardware such as CDROMs and HD's. Windows, however, does have a tendency to keep reading CDROM drives, meanwhile locking up until you open the drive and remove the CD. Your HD also may have corrupted sectors due to unproper termination(so if you have had any power anomalies recently that may explain it). So that leaves the cause of the error to almost everything possible.

ahh, we recently had an ice storm, while we didnt lose power totaly, we had wild fluctuations before i could shut down.

Other than that, it is a machine strait out of the box w/ just a joystick and network added.
