two quick questions

First off, does anyone know how to turn off the system beep? This is the beep that sounds even if the speakers and sound are set on mute.

Second, I have a old game that got transferred from the Apple II computers but runs WAY too fast on my computer. Is there any way to slow something like this down?

1. To turn of the beep disconnect the system, the one that connects directly to the MB, this should not be beeping to much.... unless somethin is wrong.....

2. To slow it down under clock your CPU =] the only other way would be to reprogram it and i doubt that would be possible =]

For the old game, doesn't the emulator your using have a speed option of some sort?
When all else fails, read the instructions.
If you're posting code, use code tags:
/* insert code here */
Errr... I mean the computer beep that seems to run independantly from the sound system. Like for example, the beep that happens when you empty the trash. Even if the sound is on mute and speakers are turned off, you still hear a beep when you empty the trash.

On the old game, unfortunately it isn't using a downloaded emulator. I didn't write it so unfortunately I can't slow it down. Oh well, worth a shot anyways.

You mean the internal speaker?
just open up the box and rip the thing out
there's usually three cords going from the front of the chassi to the motherboard, two are leds and one is the speaker. There should be an indication to which is which. if not, consult your user's manual.

Hmmm... don't want to go and unplug the thing, not my comp. I was hoping there was a setting somewhere like in the control panel that turns it off so that it doesn't beep when I do certain things. I'm actually using a computer at work and a database that I use beeps everytime I delete something, even with speakers turned off and all sound on mute - and my job is deleting stuff! Drives me nuts! And no, there isn't a setting in the database unfort.

For the old game, you might want to look at http://www.hpaa.com/moslo/ If that doesn't work, try googling for other "slow down old games" apps. There are others out there.
