ive been a redhat fan since about 6.2, and now i finally got around to 8.0. it looks like redhat took over gnome and kde and stuck them together, what going on? can i disable this (windows-like) "feature"

I had RH 8.0 installed on my Linux drive for about 48hrs.
That was long enough to decide I didn't like what they'd done to the desktop. If I'm not mistaken one of RH's developers walked out over it.
