In case you ment me, I was just pointing out that theyre leaks
in XP wich can be used for screwing things up as long as he
    doesn't install SP1

And now you know at least 2 ppl.

Mine installed flawlessly, slowed NOTHING down, and fixed security issues at the same time.

Give it a rest about M/S..the thread may not have been instigated by a SP1 fault after all! Possibly something interrupted it.

everybody I talked to has had problems with it, and I've also read about it in several magazines.

or those people have a good-for-
    nothing machine.

    Oooh, I'm scared
That doesn't really matter if stability and compatibility are the
    things we need.

Nope, I ment HIGH system requirements don't matter in
stability, I said so because fry thought i called his computer
slow or anything and posted his super-computer .

Browsing the hard drive, I found a directory called something like "jehsdfh89q45ywhf4" with 270+ MB of stuff in it. The directory was created at about the time I had the original trouble, so I reckon that was the temporary stuff for install.

The system hardware checks out fine, again and again, but the fact remains something did stop the machine at a most inconvenient moment.

I'm still only guessing that the SP installer fiddles with the BIOS, I've not had anyone give me a satisfactory answer at MS.

Whatever, the thread was started on the Mod board to tell the others I was on reduced bandwidth, it was only an idea to move it here. Since there seems to be little of constructive value, I'll close it.
