BAD PROBLEM - Don't Want Lilo - HELP!!!

I recently installed linux on a dual-boot again, and decided i didnt want it anymore... So i deleted it's partition, along with the swap. I dont want LILO anymore, but its still there, I want the computer to boot up windows, no questions asked from the bootloader. How can this be fixed?

Restart with a DOS/Win9x startup disk and type fdisk /mbr

    Adding on...

Just to add on to this thread.

How do I make my second hard drive my boot?
I have win XP on it and want to get rid of my 512Mb drive (cos its pathetic compared with my 80Gb). Then to switch it with a larger hard drive to install Linux on it.

After the bios and before the 2k logo hit F8...

select the dos prompt one and that should work. Theres another way to enter total dos but i forget.....i think if u pop in the CD, start setup, then exit setup (without doing anything obviously) that it exits into dos.

take out your old hdd, set the secondary's jumper to either master, or take it out completely(both make master), then boot the pc. Unless XP was installed to that drive in this particular pc you will more than likely have to re-install it.

Wow, you can install Linux on a 512MB HDD? I thought the kernel took up that much space by itself, my rehat 8 wants at least 2.2GB, same with mandrake 9

Do what Eibro said to recover the Master Boot Record so Windows will be happy. If you don't have a boot disk then get one from http://www.bootdisk.com/ This is a very simple process so there's no need to go through much trouble.

There are Linux distros out there that are geared towards being as minimal as possible. Check www.distrowatch.com or www.linuxiso.org for those types of distros. Also, the kernel on my system is only about 1.1 MBs in size. I doubt the linux kerenl can be anywhere near 512 MB, the complete install with all the software can easily be 4 times that though.

Win2k does have the F8 Option, but there is no way into pure DOS from that menu. The only thing even related to DOS is "Safe Mode With DOS Prompt". I'll tell you if I discover a way into pure DOS other than the bootdisk.

Windows 2000/XP aren't built ontop of DOS like the 9x versions so there is no 'pure DOS' mode.

Yup, thats what i've been told many times before...although it might be nice to have a pure DOS mode in future "not built on DOS" Windows Operating Systems...and universal drivers, cant forget those
