    Building a laptop?

Is it possible? I'm kindof curious if building a laptop is possible. I am looking to purchase one sometime this summer for college, and I have been looking around at some prices and options right now. I can't seem to find what I want for a decent price, so I was wondering if I could build it. I haven't heard of it before, so I don't know if I could, or if it is possible (if they sell the parts, etc.). Thanks.

It's not that difficult. You can buy the parts plenty of places. The case is just like buying a tower, except it has the screen attached most times. And you can buy all the other parts just as easy. I know people that have made DIY laptops. I'm actually supposed to work on one soon for a friend.

okay, Thanks for the replies. I'll look into it more and see if it is worth it for me. I just wanted to know if parts were sold, like laptop cases, and now that I know they are, I'll look into prices and difficulty. Thanks again.

A hard obsticale would be cooling, Laptops are not capable of
good cooling so or you would have spend alot of money on a
tiny pinny cooling or would end up with a 486.

Of course they are sold and can be built, but to build a GOOD laptop, i would just reccomend buying one, be it used or otherwise.

Depends a little, How are you going to get a laptop assembled?
Build it yourself? You cant just stuff it into the case!

You must have a certain expertise for it, Those parts are REALLY
close to each other. It'd be easier to just buy one, Than aquiring
    the knowledge to build one.

I think RoD is right here, building laptop is not that easy as some people thinks, that's not like a Desktop computers, not the same pieces, not the same price, not easy to find an piece...

Maybe you can see some offerts of laptops, and choose one to buy..

Thanks for the info. Looks like parts are more expensive, at which I probably will just buy one.

If your looking to save money i would scan the local expo's, ebay, used pc sites, etc. We often have expos in philadelphia and they sell 900mhz laptops as low as 200 dollars.
