erm... That's not the way to do it if you're going to use the QuickRestore CD(s). Compaq's require two partitions. A primary, typically 80%, and an extended at about 20% (duh). The restore CD will create these partions automatically for you. So, go ahead and fdisk away the original partitions, but don't create new ones using fdisk, let the CD do that for you.
You don't have to use the restore CDs. download a DOS boot disk, do the partitioning and formatting yourself and then use your operating system disk to reinstall the OS. I will walk you through it if I have to because it's CAKE. Not HARD, like TravisS would lead you to believe. Using those damn restore disks will just reload all the garbage back on. You don't need 2 seperate partitions. That's garbage.
