    DDR owns SD/RAMBUS for AMD.

    Rambus owns DDR/SD for intel.

You cannot use both at the same time.

For the prices DDR is a more pliable solution.

    >>> ddr works typically at 266mhz

The fastest readily available DDR SDRAM is now PC3700 running at 466 MHz.

You can better get less ram but faster then more and slower.

And you know why exactly? because RAMBUS won't work there

Rambus owns SD/DDR anyway. you can look in any benchmark.

it hurt my eyes to read that...

    >>Rambus owns SD/DDR anyway. you can look in any benchmark.

Well, show me a benchmark with Rambus working with a non-Intel processor. Show me a benchmark that is non-Intel biased. Show me ANY benchmark that could qualify the two accurately since Rambus was SPECIFICALLY designed for Intel where DDR was designed with a more broad approach... of COURSE it's going to be better in a benchmark....

    So that's the point.

RoD writed that DDR owns RDRAM on AMD.
And that's not right, cuz RDRAM don't work in AMD mobo's.

    And when I told:

Rambus owns SD/DDR anyway. you can look in any benchmark.
Of course I was meaning on intel, right, like I said, rambus wont work in AMD.

I still don't think that's a correct statement to make. You made a generalization about the types of RAM not specifying that you meant only with Intel... and in all actuality, I think Rambus really isn't worth the money. On a cost/effectiveness ratio, DDR is still a clear winner.

Well no **** it doesn't work on AMD, which is a deam good reason why DDR OWNS Rambus on AMD. Even if it did, DDR would own it.

    Gues why it's owning it?

    >>So, you would need less ram if you got DDR than SDRAM?

    not even close.

Take this (hypothetical sit.) for example, game X runs using 512 mbs of data, OS Y uses 128 mbs of data in ram. You only have 512mbs of ddram, so, much of the data your program needs must be put into the swap area of your hdd. I have 768mbs of sdram (which i actually do), the game will run better on my comp becuase it can put all it's data into ram.
That may not be technically the best example, but it's a general idea.
