i just installed a water cooling system in my box.
now that i dont have air flow around the heat sensor diodes i find that my temp readings move around more than they did with air coolers.
how can accurate temp readings be taken short of installing a temp probe.

eeuhm, air flow shouldn't affect yout temperature readings,
since the probe is located under the proc. You could try and
install an probe of yourself, With ASUS motherboards this is
possible
Your using liquid, a fluxuating(sp) coolant, that isn't going to hold a steady tempature, but rather will fluxate on the sensers. Thats perfectly normal, just keep and eye on it and eventually you'll find the max and the average.

my MB is an Asus A7M266-D, with 2 AMD Athlon MP 2000+.
i bagged Asus probe and i am using MBM5 to monitor the temps, they run from 46C to 59C and the daily average for the hottest CPU is 52C. that is about 10C lower than it was whe i was cooling with air.

i keep the case buttoned up all of the time, i have a bunch of little kids that would love to get in there and mess around.
mt LC has 2 120mm fansthat blow out the side of the case, i have 2 case fans pulling air into the case from the back.

thats nice man, my new case has 12 fans but i wanna go LC eventually.
12 fans!? thats quite a few. i have 4 x 80mm sunons and a 60mm on my heatsink and then another 60mm on my psu. a little loud, but i modded the fans and i electrically put a switch on them so i can externally turn them on/off if temps permit.
for an amd, 52c isnt terrible, but make sure that doesnt go up too much. damage occurs in the mid 60s. im not sure, but i thought that asus had a 10c range problem with their mobos. if you subtract 10c from that number i think you get the real reading. i heard this many times before.

result: lost lotsa money, result: you crying.

I know! But i think half of the fans are obsolete.
If it where blowing from left to right AND from front to back the
air would collide resulting the air exiting the left or right not the
back.
But it'd be flowing faster and there'd be more of it flowing, hence the extra cooling.

ok, how about the noise? So many fans? of course 2+2 isnt 4
in the world of sound but still, so many fans can produce a
certain amount of noise.
the two in the front suck air in, as well as the two on the top, the rest are exhaust.....they are quite quiet and work nicely, the case comes designed that way.
