    Stress Test: Graphics/CPU intense

As some of you know i just built my buddies pc for him, heres the specs:

    Pentium 4 1.8GHZ
    512MB SDRAM
    GF4 TI4200 128MB
    Maxtor 7200RPM 70GIG HDD
    UltraCool ATX 12FAN Case

Anyway, i want to ensure that this thing can take the heat, so to speak. All graphics settings are stock and i 3dMARK'd it at 7093, not too shabby. I need some sort of stress test that just slams this thing with graphics/cpu usage for like 30min to an hour and allows me to monitor cpu heat and such(i can do that in the bios but i mean while running.)

I think i member having one before, cpuburn or some crap, can anyone reccomend one too me? preferable within the 20mb range, please.

If you want a stressful CPU test, download the arcade emulator MAME and cruisin usa or world. Exploit all graphics and sound options(full accuracy).

    That requires a 4ghz CPU.

Oh, I see that you want the program to monitor heat..do that with a hand held tool if you have one.

If you don't, I don't know then. MAME is the ultimate CPU tester though.

    -edit-
It requires a 4ghz cpu non-stop. The game will play unaccurately on anything less.

Download "Sandra" from SiSoft. Not only does it have utilities to stress test your equipment, it has many other useful things as well.
It is not the spoon that bends, it is you who bends around the spoon.

Sandra wasn't intense enough. I used CPU burn-in; CPU Burn-in constantly cycles FPU intensive functions for a user specified period of time. The resultant calculations are constantly checked for data integrity, the system i built lasted one hour and 45 minutes, not bad at all.

that it takes a ****load of cpu usage to overheat it, it shutdown at 150 F because i had the mobo set to kill power at 150 F. This proves that he, someone who would never use the max potential of this machine, won't destroy it because even i wouldn't run it that hott at my hardest draw on it, see?

what are you doing following me just to post :P

What Sisoft Sandra was that? I'm going to try that test too,
M always prepared to see how my PC's stability stack up against
other's, i believe few have the stabality i have
    M Going to try this tommorow, i l b e b a c k

    howdy,
i like SiSandra, it seems to be a good general purpose utility for system testing and burn in.

RoD what is the point of burning into to the point of failure. it seems you are just trying to damage or destroy something.

imho burn in testing is NDT not Destructive testing. i can push my box to instability using these utilities but in normal use i never even get near to those conditions.

I don't like you very much. Please post a lot less.

    *and then*
No, I know you were joking. My point still stands.

The point is to see at what temp the cpu is unstable to the point of failure, to make sure i limit the max-temp trigger well before that maximum point.

to answer Travis(i think it was), i can push it really hard as far as common use and it stays at or just below 113F.

My duron should be here in a few days. I still can't believe how big the HSF for the p4 is in comparison to the actual chip lol...
