    Question scared

    While on instant messenger today, I attempted to send a file to one of my friends. Unfortunately, as I tried to move up a couple folders from my Windows folder to the My Computer folder, the AIM window stalled and I had to close down AIM. I tried this once again, and it did the same thing as I tried to enter the My Computer folder.

    Puzzled, I tried to open up My Computer on the desktop, and it did the same thing. I then logged off my mom's Windows XP account, which I was using, and logged onto my Windows XP account, and tried opening up My Computer again...but it did the same thing...

    Every time I try to open up My Computer, that little flashlight animation comes up and it searches and searches, but it can never find it...and then it eventually stalls the window it is in.

    Why can it not find the My Computer folder? It has made me kind of scared....

    Or even use the installed features-LIKE SYSTEM RESTORE.

    Jesus, only had to use it once and it was superb.....but eliminate virus possibilities first!

    Why reinstall 'doze?

    By the time you have already cleared out all the Billware, why not just go Linux and get a journalled file system with built in hashing and file location database functionality?

    I reccomended a reinstall because thats what i usually do as thats a sign windowz could be corrupt(ing).

    As far as system restore, if its because of something he did and he doesn't know what he did, but it happens to be a regular habit, then sys restore is pointless because history will repeat itself. I have used it but i don't feel it a viable solution in this case.

    Thats 4 cents, if i get to ten i start charging in quarters :P

    My recommendation..

    if possible I would fully reinstall everything. Its a good idea to do so every once in a while or you can restore back to a certain point before the computer started acting up. Try reading this site here BlackViper for system reinstall and super tweaks.
    If it were me reinstall it just to be safe!
    Good luck!

    As far as I can tell, Windows was already corrupt when I installed it. Perhaps yours is just self-destructing?
    Code:
    #include <cmath>
    #include <complex>
    bool euler_flip(bool value)
    {
        return std::pow
        (
            std::complex<float>(std::exp(1.0)),
            std::complex<float>(0, 1)
            * std::complex<float>(std::atan(1.0)
            *(1 << (value + 2)))
        ).real() < 0;
    }

    Try pressing your CTRL key 3 times, your Windows key 3 times and your ALT key three times. Click once on the Desktop and then double-click "My Computer"--

    bizarre things often happen if these stick or windows fails to read the "key-up" event-- a known problem with windows.
