    Question IE 6 status bar

is there any way to make the status bar permanently stay there? it is annoying because its never there...andi always have go up the menu and click the button to get it there...

And i like to have it there because it shows the status on how much there is left to load a page, etc. Its annoying because it is not there by default.

It should be there by default. Is there any way to put it there by default?

    Try PowerToys for XP.

I have exactly the same gripe. I don't know how to keep the status bar there either.

    to solve it
Start the Registry Editor. Do so by clicking the Start button, then typing

    regedit

    Navigate to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

In the right pane, scroll down to the value Show_StatusBar. Right-click the entry and choose Modify. When the Edit String dialog box opens, enter

    yes

under Value Data. Click OK, then close the Registry Editor. That should do it.

Then it must be a bug.

The Show_StatusBar key is set to yes, but the status bar doesn't show - not when viewing files.

That is default, for the status bar not to be visible when File->New->Window is selected. Not a bug, but maybe a bad feature, it should be different in IE 7.0

As a MBT, do you have to provide MS with a lot of feedback? In other words, is it a big effort being one, or is it easy pickings?
When all else fails, read the instructions.
