Getting all my speakers to play

My motherboard wupports 5.1 digital sorround sound, I bought a set a 6-channel speakers, and they work great in most games.

But when I play music with WMP, it only uses the sub and the front speakers.

Anyone know how to force it to use all the speakers even though the audio track is stereo. Im useing the 9 beta version of WMP. Ive been trying to find a good sound effect that uses 5.1 surround, but no luck yet. (I like to have that effect they play at theatres that goes along with the dolby digital logo)

Did you setup the speaker settings in WinXP? If not then you should. If you don't know how, here's the tip. Go to Control Panel->Sound, Speech, and Audio Devices->Change Speaker Settings. Now the dialog is opened and at the bottom of the dialog you have two buttons, Speaker Volume and Advance. Click the advance button and then another dialog appears and here you choose the speakers you have.

First off, tell Windows you have a 5.1 speaker setup. Second, try Winamp to see if it will play music in "dual stereo" mode. On SB Live/Audigy cards, stereo sources will play on both front and rear speakers by default, and a sub if you want. For built in stuff, check it's control panel settings(if it has any) and see if it has any options referring to stereo sources.

games play through all the speakers fine, and the speakers are setup in windows and in the sound drivers that come with MB.

You gous know the new dolby digital logo they play at the movie house now, Id like to have the sound that goes with that.

Which Dolby sound is it? There are several. Aurora(sp?), Train, Rain, Broadway, Canyon, Egypt, and a few newer ones I believe. I have VOB's for all of these except Aurora(which is on the Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition DVD).

As for music, try newer drivers if possible.
