I have two almost identical systems under my desk, the keyboard and mouse switch with a small device on my desk, the screen, a large Samsung flat screen, I plug to one or the other as necessary. It often is connected to my primary machine most of the time, I move it two-three times a week to check all is fine on the other machine, (it is set up as a BOINC number cruncher).
This morning, my primary system was doing some odd things, nothing serious, just unusual, peculiar comms for example, it said there was no internet. I restarted the house router, and the router on my desk, but it made no difference, those actions normally fix comms issues. I switched to the other machine, similar story.
I shut both systems down, cycled the desk power, to restart the desk router and peripheral switch gear, and restarted the whole menagerie. This is when I saw the next problem. The screen, when I powered it on, was not displaying the BIOS start screen from either machine which is unusual, it remained black.
Now, whichever system the screen is connected too, it stubbornly remains black. So, either a seriously unlikely dual failure of the graphics cards in both machines has happened simultaneously, or, the screen, which is also showing a peculiarity with its power LED, (ie. it is on and I can't switch it off.....), is history.
Am I missing something daft, or what? Any ideas?
