    HP laptop

My wife has been "cleaning" her laptop. After the attention, the font size etc. seems to be at least twice what it was before. I looked in the Windows settings and the zoom available is either 100% or 125%, it shows 100%. Is there another setting that can be upset by careless "cleaning" which causes this?

    Screen resolution perhaps?

Also look at various accessibility settings which may have enlarged things.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

I'll look up the resolution default and see if it has changed. I guess there are keyboard short cuts to change things like that, so certainly a possibility.

The default is 1366 x 768, and that is how it is set now. Something I noticed is the icons on the home page are enlarged, but the text under the icons looks to be normal size. I would have expected an accessability setting to increase both?
