want to get access to my mac ical on my android table, via, i suppose, google calenda

I have an iCal on my Mac. I have a Google account and I see an empty calendar in it.

My Google account "details" for the sake of this question:

[email protected] <- google account email (just created now)
[email protected] <- recovery email (was THE address but now recovery email apparently)

In iCal on my Mac I go to Accounts, click +, leave Account Type 'automatic', put [email protected] for Email, put in my password, and click Create. Immediately a new box immedately appears, titled User Name. And an error:

iCal found a CalDAV server but couldn't log in with the username "[email protected]". Make sure the user name and passwrod you entered are correct, then try again.

I've tried a few thing in there but none work. I don't know what my user name is apart from the google email? I have no idea what's going on. Any ideas? Thanks.

I've tried selecting Google for Account Type, putting both, on different attempts, [email protected] and [email protected], same errors as above.

My password is correct - it works for signing into Google.

Cracked it It was an allow less secure apps switch in Google somewhere that did it/allowed it.

Ok, not quite, I've got iCal signing into Google calendar, but no events have appeared in Google calendar. iCal on my Mac is where all my stuff is. I'm hoping to synch it with an Android table (via, I guess is the best way, Google calendar). First, I guess, I need to get my events which are in iCal to Google calendar. How? What's the best way, bearing in mind synching is the goal? Thanks.
