iPhone applications development on Windows 7

I do not own a Mac machine so I would like to create a virtual machine on Windows 7 so that I am able to run xcode on it for iPhone applications development.I know the process of how to create a virtual machine so what I wanted to know is:1) What specification should I give this virtual machine so that I am able to run both the OSs smoothly. I own an Acer laptop with 4GB RAM, Intel i5 2.27GHz, 512MB Geforce GPU.2) Does the Mac OS X copy comes with xcode or do I have to buy separately. Thanks!

I can't help you with everything, but here is what I have.

On my MacBook Air i5 @ 1.7GHz and 128GB SSD running MacOS Lion I have VMWare and both MacOS SnowLeopard and Windows XP. Virtual machines seem to be using only one core (plus that extra hyperThreading quasi-core) but anyway it all works fine. I have latest Xcode in Lion and older version of Xcode in SnowLeopard so I can still target old PPC Macs that are not supported by Apple any more.

Can't remember right now if I ever did an iOS project inside VM but I suppose running things in simulator works fine. I'm just not sure if Xcode would recognize devices properly to run and debug everything on the iPhone, but I can sure try it one of these days if there's no one else to confirm.

Oh, and Xcode is a free download. You need to register first and then you can use it, but only run in simulator. A $99 account lets you get certificates and then you can test on devices and submit applications to the app store.
