    Android or IOS?

What do you prefer, Android or IOS? Is your phones OS tweaked or modified in anyway?

I like Apples IOS but I feel the jailbreaking scene is a pain and very restrictive! So, I prefer the Android OS!

I have a rooted T-Mobile G2x, running a ported GB version of MIUI(Just moved from CM7). I also have CWM installed. Stock kernel at the moment. Not overclocked/underclocked.

Always had Android and probably always will in the foreseeable future.

I have a Nexus S with CM9 nightly. Battery life is way better than stock ICS (Android 4.0), and does everything I want.

Also have an Android tablet - Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Running custom 3.2 at the moment. Waiting for ICS.

ICS is pretty awesome! Except that ICS has no camera or video recorder, not being able to view video outside of the net, along with a list of other problems lol Its not stable yet! I've tried CM9 and HFS(Hell Fire Sandwich).

You should check out MIUI!! It has the feel of CM7 and the look of CM9. A perfect integration of Kang! All 3 OS's are in fact built by team Kang. At least Miuui's port to the G2x is developed by Kang.

Even if ICS became stable, I am a dedicated GB man! I just like the stability it provides and the community/devs are/is big!

ICS is rock solid for me, more responsive, better battery life, and also has more cool features. Probably because it's a Google phone (Nexus S) so they didn't have driver trouble. I thought Kang just means it's not an official CM release? (someone doing a repository checkout, build and redistribute it)

Well, I use Android just because there is no better alternative on the market (Android still sucks, though).

My G2X is a Google phone too. I think your phone came with ICS and was meant for it. You are right though, about the definition. It applies to any rom.

It is also a team. They have made ROM's like AOKP(Android Open Kang Project). Which is really good. If your using CM9 and like it, I would give AOKP a try! IMO, it is a whole lot better!

Team Kang also ported MIUI and various other ROM's.

You've obviously never seen their logo or boot animation huh?

I am surprised as to how many of the cboard members are not big on jailbreaking or rooting. I figured being a programmer, this would be appealing to you! I mean, yeah I understand the windows users not caring and settling for regular or crap cuz lets face it.... Thats exactly what windows is! lol Take it how ever you want. However, I would expect a dedicated Linux user/programmer to be into phone modding.

    So, where are the modders?

Hope you didn't eat all that pop corn yet @manasij, cuz now your definitely going to need some lol

    O_o

Why are you so desperate to turn this forum into something it isn't?

    Are you lonely or something?

    I really don't get this.

    *shrug*

Okay, here it is, the reason you aren't getting swamped with "I use a modded $(CWM) with custom install scripts because I'm changing the mount points for $(ROOTONLYSOFTWARE)." or things of a similar nature is because that isn't what this forum is to most any of the regulars. Actually, that's the same reason your "Post Desktops", "LFS", and "New Subsection" threads didn't do as much as you think they should have done.

The regulars who are interested in that stuff are member of forums where that stuff is a thing. The reason for this should be obvious to you.

Despite what you clearly think we don't need infinite duplication of communities. That nonsense only leads to fragmentation. If you ask for a thread "What Android stack is this community using?" over at a forum that deals with "Android" stacks you'll get a lot of activity!

Yes, very <sniffle sniffle> <big tear down left cheek> lol

Hey I figured, a lot of members would be into this kind of stuff. Being programmers and all. Especially Linux users. Now I see, that this forum isnt about that. I frequent an Android modding forum. Just figured I would try here cuz there are some cool members here. I was wrong ha

The regulars who are interested in that stuff are member of forums where that stuff is a thing. The reason for this should be obvious to you.
Again, it is obvious. Just was trying to see if the members here like to talk about things besides programming. I have an premium XDA-Developers app. I am a member of the miui forum, rootwiki, etc. Honestly, I now feel that a lot of y'all are a bunch of tight ***es! Just saying.

If you ask for a thread "What Android stack is this community using?" over at a forum that deals with "Android" stacks you'll get a lot of activity!
    [sarcasm]
No... Really?? I had no idea
    [/sarcasm]
What do you think I'm some jackass? Again, I thought that since this was a programming forum, members would be into modding.

    Yep. Pretty much.

All of the regulars here are into other things.

Some of the regulars are even into playing about with their "smart phone" internals.

Strangely enough, this is exactly why some of us are also member of forums that exist for exactly that purpose.

The reason I don't root my galaxy s (which I hate, btw) is that it is a bloody pain in the *** to restore it to its original state afterwards.
Also when rooting, I lost the native samsung keyboard. Contrary to what you might think, I need to write in both english and my native language. No way around that, and there is no keyboard that can beat the samsung one that I've found. There just isn't.
Part of this is because people just keep pumping out crap into the market. No quality at all.
I actually did root the galaxy s once, and it was a pain to restore it to non-rooted. Odin hanging, flashing the wrong firmware, etc.
This is also precisely why I don't root my galaxy tab.

I mean, yeah I understand the windows users not caring and settling for regular or crap cuz lets face it.... Thats exactly what windows is! lol Take it how ever you want. However, I would expect a dedicated Linux user/programmer to be into phone modding.
Don't treat all Windows users as idiots. That's almost an insult.
I like customization, I like being in control and I like tweaking. But I don't like Linux. The reason is that Linux just isn't focused on specifically what I want.
There may be two or more groups of people: those don't don't care about control, and those that do. But don't categorize them into operating system user bases.
