The reason I don't root my galaxy s (which I hate, btw) is that it is a bloody pain in the *** to restore it to its original state afterwards.
Also when rooting, I lost the native samsung keyboard. Contrary to what you might think, I need to write in both english and my native language. No way around that, and there is no keyboard that can beat the samsung one that I've found. There just isn't.
Part of this is because people just keep pumping out crap into the market. No quality at all.
I actually did root the galaxy s once, and it was a pain to restore it to non-rooted. Odin hanging, flashing the wrong firmware, etc.
This is also precisely why I don't root my galaxy tab.

I mean, yeah I understand the windows users not caring and settling for regular or crap cuz lets face it.... Thats exactly what windows is! lol Take it how ever you want. However, I would expect a dedicated Linux user/programmer to be into phone modding.
Don't treat all Windows users as idiots. That's almost an insult.
I like customization, I like being in control and I like tweaking. But I don't like Linux. The reason is that Linux just isn't focused on specifically what I want.
There may be two or more groups of people: those don't don't care about control, and those that do. But don't categorize them into operating system user bases.
