Thanks!
Of course I'm not going to do that... unless the problem doesn't get solved jk It's just the way I feel though. Believe me when I say that I would love to and am this close <pinches fingers together, really close> to probably doing it!
Any suggestions?
You can just disable the wireless and connect with an ethernet cable to the router. I do so because my PC is always in one place, therefore I don't need WiFi.

That's what I've been doing. But I take this on the go. So when I'm at the local coffee/internet cafe(Starbucks) I have to toggle from my android. Its so freaking slow that way!
I reinstalled my Windows 7 OS on the stock internal Sata HDD. Then enabled wifi. Now it works. So, I guess I will boot a live CD and check everything pertaining to wifi in Ubuntu and check it againsts the old install. Hopefully I can see what's missing or added. I can see this quickly becoming a huge headache! If I decide to smash it I will YouTube it for you GReaper. Just playing
So, I restored my Windows 7 HDD to factory and rebooted. I then enabled combo(wifi|bluetooth) and I assume it installed/inserted the proper modules/drivers/firmware. I plugged in my external Linux HDD and it carried over. I guess the upgrade removes needed modules. My guess is that it does not recognize the wireless adapter and doesn't install the necessary firmware/drivers/modules. In turn, unwanted garbage is added.
I guess Windows is actually good for something! I'm shocked haha! Now I have to figure out how to do this manually on Linux. Guess I'll match up the old driver/module/firmware list and compare them. Maybe i'll make a script, if I can pull it off. We'll see how it goes.
eh.. I was waiting for the hammer video.
Btw, I had a similar problem on a friend's laptop and using ndiswrapper helped.
It was a few years ago, though...so, the situation may be different now.
Is the video available yet? I've been waiting for days

Wow. That video would go viral for sure. If you cannot solve your problem and decide to smash your laptop with a sledgehammer please post the video on youtube. Heck all the moderators would probably let you leave the link to youtube up in your post just for the sheer enjoyment of it.
