i am not sure, but, something like this hapeened with my computer few years back. the computer locked (as you said) and i had to forse shutdown . and when i tried to restart it didn't and a weird ''pee" sound came. it was solved by taking out the RAM ,cleaning it with some cloth and reinserting it into its slot. probably it happened due to some lose connections of the RAM.

I did take the RAM out for giggles and reset all 4 sticks, did an avast scan prior to windows boot right after post and ran memtest. So far so good. This will be the 2nd day my computer's been running stable. Few movies down and raided in World of Warcraft last night for about 3 hours(Siege of Wyrmwyrst Temple and Fall of Deathwing in raid finder -- pulls 25 people together from ALL their US servers, then a home server only public chat invite Black Temple zerg I put together with about 4 guildies).
