Exclamation Are there any open source print management programs?

Green initiatives are being pushed onto public organizations, but the price of print chargeback software I've found exceeds the annual expense of actually printing. This is for a school,is there an open source tool to track and charge library patrons for printouts without breaking the bank?

Currently looking at Pykota, it did had commercial support, until the main developer moved to an Island in the South Pacific - who says Open Source doesn't pay? It hasn't been update since 2006 if i recall, and the support is pretty much low, and dead. Is there any other open source software that could do the job?

If the quality of the (proprietary/commercial, open source, whatever) software I've seen used at some libraries is any indication, you might as well write your own dude, you cannot do worse and might end up as a local hero, lol.
    C programming resources:
GNU C Function and Macro Index -- glibc reference manual
The C Book -- nice online learner guide
    Current ISO draft standard
CCAN -- new CPAN like open source library repository
    3 (different) GNU debugger tutorials: #1 -- #2 -- #3
cpwiki -- our wiki on sourceforge
