flv file format

wotsit does not have any information of the flv file format. i did download the flv file format specifications from adobe.

problem:
flv files are altered and no longer play. they are changed to audio only or just do not play. sometimes i get just a grey screen. it is the saved file that is being altered. not sure why. but i think it is the player that is doing it. or some rogue script.

anyone else encounter this issue with flv ? and how was it solved beside redownloading the video ?

Sounds like you're missing a codec...

Recommend you use CCCP and your favorite directshow player, or a player which has codecs built-in.
flv is a container, and not a video or audio format, so if you get a gray screen it probably means you have outdated codecs.

yea but it is an older video clip with an older flv player. it played fine before. it should play now or at least still play with the older flv player. aaaahhhh i could scream. it is more confusing than a hermaphrodite in a gay bar.

ok new flv player downloaded to see if that fixes anything. ok tested that works.

so what is a m2ts file format ? got off a video camera i think it is mpeg2. if i export as mpeg2 it dose not play but if i export the clip as avi it plays.

m2ts is some bloody MPEG2 format.
Again, if it does not play, you should be getting CCCP and a DS player. It should handle virtually all file formats out there.
"Export as avi" is very vague. In fact, that description is very vague. However, if your camera is indeed MPEG2, then I think avi should be able to handle it. But don't be fooled--some programs do not write compliant video files, or they do something weird with it. Do not trust commercial programs or hardware in this respect. I've been burned by this, as well.
