    Objective C

    Hi
I didn't know where else to ask this, but why isn't there an Objective C topic in this forum?
It's also a sort of C and I would think it would increase the number of members significantly.

Is there a particular reason why there isn't any?

    Please let me know

    best regards

    Same old story:

"We need a Python forum because it interfaces with C",
"We need a Java forum because its as close to C++ as C# is and we have a board for that"

Forums that give in to easy requests usually have lots of specific boards without much traffic. Its harder for people to answer questions on multiple boards, and it's pretty off-putting to people coming to the board for the first time as they don't know where to start and on what board to post.

That's kind of why the Tech Board was created - as a catch-all for topics not specialised on other boards.

My Advice: post your Objective-C questions here on the Tech Board. If there's an increase in Objective-C traffic that justifies a specific board then the webmaster might be persuaded to create a new board. Failing than that we manage to keep the board system tidy and specific.

Have a look here for previous discussion on the matter: Objective C section on the forums

The objective of this forums is to provide an active community to help with problems. There are already other forums that provide better help for objective c than this forum probably ever could simply because they have an active community whose goal is to help other people with objective c. And this is also why the C and C++ sections are so active; most of the people who come here look for help on C or C++ or to help people with C or C++.

Take the C# forum, it was added way later than the C and C++ sections and it sees only the fraction of activity of that seen in C and C++ sections.

There is no use to add a forum section if there isnt a community who can make it thrive.
