Jacked Speakers & USB Headset on AC97

Are any of you running on an AC'97 chipset with Realtek HD Audio and have successfully managed to set it up so that both your jacked speakers and a USB handset play the sounds simultaneously?

I can only seem to do this with jacked speakers and headsets. An USB headset doesn't seem to work. I can only hear sounds from one at a time. Alternatively, do you know of any cheap sound card that lets me do this? I'm sick and tired of AC'97.

EDIT: Actually I think I have an Intel's HD Audio chipset according to Device Manager (supersedes AC97 it seems, but is just as crappy).

EDIT2: Could a mod be so kind and alter the thread title to reflect the Intel's HD Audio chipset?

Bah. Seems I'll have to go and buy a proper headset with a jack. Can only blame myself for not even noticing I was bringing home an usb device. Smart.
