Question Turbo C And Professional GUIs

    Hello,
I'm now going to be back on the old, but wonderful world of MS-DOS 6.22, by using Borland Turbo C. As I already know some good thing C, I just want to know how to do applications on VESA mode, as Windows 3.11

    Then my questions are:
    • There is some possibility to do this using Turbo C?
    • Where to get resources/documentation of this?

    Best Regards,

You can code up your programs in the Turbo C IDE, and run them as well, right in Windows XP. Why go back to the buggy and insecure Windows 3.11?

DOS 6.22 was good, but FreeDOS will run right inside windows today, so why go back to 6.22?

Sorry, my correction: I'm running both emulated, MS-DOS 6.22 and FreeDOS.

Also, I'm not using Windows 3.11, I'm running only DOS, because it's emulated on my Windows Mobile Pocket PC, using PocketDOS.

What I want is to build applications using Turbo C, that have a Windows 3.11-like GUI.

    Understood now?

I thought the GUI "look" that you got from Windows 3.11, varied, depending on what Windows found when it tested your video card.

IIRC, it started by trying the higher video modes (better resolution), and continued stepping down, until it no longer generated an error from the video card.

I don't recall the old standards from those days, but Microsoft has newsgroups which it has tech's or engineers answer questions on, and that would be the place to surely direct your question, I believe. None of this has anything to do with C, but if you find a problem with something specific that relates to C, please do post it up.
