Look, It's obvious I don't give much credit to touch-typing. That much you realized by now. And that's my only point.

I think I type at 70 or 80 WPM with a accuracy rate on the 90%s mark. Just did a few tests after googling for it and the lowest I got was 50 WPM on a rather difficult test with lots of punctuation. So I take this 50WPM as my probable typing speed while coding, where the 70-80 WPM as my probable speed on a text processor or on those days I'm feeling particularly skillful (or when typing in Portuguese).

The thing worth mentioned is that not even once someone complained to me I type slow (quite on the contrary!), nor as any project where I have been involved been delayed over an hypothetical slow typing. If you look at me typing at 70-80 WPM, you will most probably not be able to tell much of a difference from someone typing at 100 WPM. 20 or 30 WPMs amount at best to 1 more word every 2 seconds. Hardly something you can spot unless you time it. Neither it will have much importance on modern IDEs and programming practices.

Meanwhile, no RSI here or carpal tunnel, diabetes, crabs or or other niceties. Just an addiction to coffee and smokes and enough success on my career to make me proud and financially secure.

Yeah, if you are a teenager, most adults use either email or voice. I can honestly say that I have neither text messaged a customer or colleague, nor been text messaged by them.

I prefer IM over phone/email because it's almost as real time as phone, but still gives you a chance to rethink what you are saying.

We use text messages heavily because we all have a bunch of classes to go to at different times, so we'll never know if the other person is available for calling. Texting allows them to reply when it's convenient for them (which may not be convenient for me!)

If you are looking at teenage girls and notice how fast they are texting you are doing it wrong.

It's not amazing at all. You have many folks on this forum who also do not touch-type and top me easily. Still I know I type fast. But it's nothing of this world for many like me. And as I said before, I don't hunt for keys. I merely glimpse at the keyboard.

It's only possible because we type about every single day for the past decades (which is my case). Others also because they are naturals (Bubba's and brewbuck speeds makes me think that to be their case) and others still because they consciously train their skill.

I stand corrected, then. I've never seen anyone "hunt and peck"ing fast, so I just assumed it's not possible.
