    Goodbye ZoneAlarm

    Reasons:
    1. Caused my LinkSys WRT160Nv2 to randomly drop internet connections. Cause: ZA has an 'idle' lock timeout that will cease all internet activity after the time limit expires. Connectivity status does not change and lock is shown as disabled inside ZA control panel even though it is enabled. Free version has no way to set time limit and even in full version the time limit never truly disables the lock it just pushes its time limit up.
    2. Caused MSVS 2005 C# to fail to detect changes to cs files forcing me to manually rebuild a cs after changes were made. Rebuilding solution or just hitting build would not get my new changes. Found a site where a guy had a similar problem. Thought he was nuts but after removing ZA problem vanished. Very odd but definitely ZA.
    3. Previous XP updates caused complete loss of internet. ISP stated that many of their customers had same problem and it only affected ZA users. Upon removing ZA problem went away. ZoneLabs did get a fix out but this whole thing was not very comforting.

Since many of my internet problems are pointing to ZA I must ask myself why I continue to use it. So I'm not going to use it anymore. I'm switching to Comodo Pro to see if it's any better. Removed Comodo previously due to slow XP startup but this was caused by a corrupt profile and a slow and very old 20GB drive.

On a side note it seems my LinkSys WRT160Nv2 router is not getting very good reviews. But rather than buy a new router which is the expensive route the first thing I'm going to do is alter my firewall setup.

Anyone else have the LinkSys WRT160Nv2 and if so are you having problems with it?

I've never experienced any "idle" time limit with ZA. What is the actual time limit? What version of ZA are you using? I am using version 7.0.743.000.
OS: Linux Mint 13(Maya) LTS 64 bit.
