Update WFP list (not disable it!)

I learned that I can't just replace a system file in XP, after research I learned about WFP. I found quite a few articles on disabling it, but the thing is I'm fine with it, I don't want to disable it.
I couldn't find any articles on updating whatever list/table keeps track of these files. So the question is, does anyone here know how to update the WFP system (like the service pack installations do), without disabling it?

I've used the WfpAdmin utility from this site in the past...

But that was just to un-protect certain folders. Why and what file do you need to replace?
