No, every step was correct except the step where he was dividing by zero.
You could get it without dividing by zero this way:
1 = 1
sqrt(1)= 1
sqrt((-1)*(-1))= 1
sqrt(-1)*sqrt(-1)= 1
i * i = 1
-1 = 1
-1/2 = 1/2
0 = 1
