Would you consider Linux? It seems to me that anytime a valuable feature is added to MS Windows, it's because someone else came up with the idea, and MS "borrowed" it.

It's a dead horse. Nobody that wants to make any money programs in windows. Either MS buys you out for a piddly sum, or they "add a feature", and you disappear. :)

I don't have experience with PPC, but if you try google "ppc +linux", you may find some help. The information is obviously geared towards linux, but it may be helpful for your own project.
