Ahh.. I've seen that happen when I go to a forum logged out, then log in, then go to a thread and when I go back they are all marked as read in that thread. I have seen that on other vBulletin sites...
If you have been inactive for a while, then all posts are marked as read. This happens to me if I open up a bunch of threads in different tabs and take a while to read them, or if I get sidetracked...
