Your right I didnt try compiling the code earlier but I did and it works fine for me.

The only thing that I can think of is that allegro wasn't compiled correctly for Visual C++.

If your using Dev C++. You need to make sure youve downloaded the Allegro dev pack from the auto updater. When you do you have to make sure you copy the the allegro40.dll to your c:\windows\win32...
